大学を卒業後、大阪でIT関連の業務に携わっていた武曽健一（むそけんいち）さん。ネット販売の仕事をつつけていた中でモノを販売するという仕事から、「ものをつくる」に興味が湧いてきたそう。福井へ帰郷することになり、ならば「ものづくりがしたい」との想いを胸に、越前打刃物、越前和紙などの産地を自分で回ります。いくつかの越前焼の工房を訪問した帰路に立ち寄り、受講することになった「金津創作の森美術館」の陶芸コース。師匠となった越前焼作家の松井さんから、「そんなにものづくりが好きなら手伝いにこないか」と声を掛けられ、窯炊きなどを手伝うように。「どの作業、ひとつひとつとっても楽しくて。あと作陶から窯炊き、最初から最後までひとりで責任をもって作り上げられることも自分にあっているなと思いました」

恩師の松井さんの紹介などで、越前焼のメッカ、越前陶芸村内にある「福井県窯業試験場」で学べることを知った武曽さん。親御さんにも内緒で1年間の受講を決意して、片道1時間以上かけて試験場に通い始めます。当時は、講座が終わるとアルバイト先に通って生活費を稼ぐ日々。しかも、鍛錬の日々を乗り切って無事に独立を果たしたものの、四苦八苦していたところに、講師助手の仕事と窯元への勤務の話がきます。悩んだ末、実践力をつけたいと、3年間勤務することに。しかし、「もともと接客に苦手意識もあったのですが、イベントなどで販売から接客も全部やったんですね。そのうち接客も苦手意識もなくなりました。他にもいろいろ学べて、あの時があるから今があるという感じです」
